A daytrip to South Tyrol.

A trip to nearby South Tyrol also has much to offer in the way of excellent daytrip destinations. There in the midst of the Alps you’ll find numerous attractions and a Mediterranean, Italian atmosphere. South Tyrol is especially rich in hill forts and castles most of which can be visited. The most famous is undoubtedly Castel Tirolo / Schloss Tirol near Meran.

These picturesque cities have a very special kind of atmosphere. Take for example the arcades in Bozen under which you can spend many a happy hour strolling and discovering all sorts of shops, people and attractions.

Sterzing lies not far from Wipptal, in northernmost Italy and is a small town with an Italian charm all of its own. Its landmark is the medieval tower among the shops and restaurants of the picturesque old town.

Brixen, Kloster Neustift, Pustertal, Meran and many other towns and idyllic villages in South Tyrol are also worth a visit. Alongside wine growing and apple farming, tradition is of huge importance in South Tyrol and throughout the year there are festivals, celebrations and events of every kind.
